PORTLAND MAINE

CITY + CULTURE

THE WEST END—A VERY SPECIAL NEIGHBORHOOD

Living on the West End puts you in a calm oasis in an energetic, ever-changing city. There is a unique vibe—a culmination of historic detail, the big-hearted people who have chosen to live here, and the small businesses that speckle the tree-lined blocks. Take a walk on the Western Promenade, shop fresh at the markets just outside your front door, relax at a cafe, pick up a wood-fired pizza, or grab a bite at a neighborhood spot.

In 2010 the West End was voted one of the best-preserved Victorian neighborhoods in the country. This fact paired with thoughtful renovations and few new builds give the West End its eclectic charm.

PORTLAND—it's all JUST A FEW BLOCKS away

As entrepreneurs, non-profits, and small businesses work hard at reimagining this already-great and getting-greater-by-the-day little city, the variety of things to do grows each week.

The Portland Trails system provides foot and bike paths all across the urban and suburban landscape. With the peninsula being small, many areas are easily accessible without an automobile.

Aside from the hundreds of places to eat and drink, there are incredible music venues, ocean and island access, local and national events, theater productions, factory tours, picnicking spots, public parks, and so much more. We could go on and on about how awesome this city is, but instead, visit the Portland Downtown website, they have very thoughtfully laid it all out for you.
